The present administration has no energy policy to open up business to more access and therefore no more jobs in this industry. And I do believe that the Obama administration has much of the Keystone project on hold until sometime in 2013, which has opened the door for Canada to proceed with negotiations with China to build a pipeline to the coast of British Columbia instead. We need to be less dependent on others for our energy and more sufficient. We need government to support our technologies and businesses and let us be less dependent on our government. We can be oil independent and natural gas can be a fuel allternitive.

BurtB - "But the loony left does not care what Americans want. They know better. They will force you to get with their program, by any means they can. No tactic is off limits. No lie is too ridiculous. No level of cheating is unacceptable."
Except that what most of what most Americans seem to believe on the issue is based on lies and cheating.
We're already pumping more oil domestically now than we have in almost a decade. We're pumping so much natural gas that the selling price is lower than the cost of production for most wells.
And the Keystone pipeline won't produce any significant number of new jobs and will mostly allow the oil companies to charge more for fuel produced from Canadian crude, whatever part of that they don't export.

Gnusman53,
When automobile technology was seen by the public as preferable to horse drawn carriages, did you know that Millions of jobs went away?
Are you sad that so many people were fired who made horse drawn carriages, and buggy whips and horse shoes, and Curry combs, and Tack mfg and more.

and a couple things for kool-aid drinkers, lazy idiots, and occupy whatever
Warren Buffet Owns Burlington Northern. Burlington Northern hauls 25% of Bakken oil. Does this(not) clear up any question about why our 'president of change' killed the pipeline?
In 1979 the top 1% of income earners paid 18.3% of the total tax bill, by 2006 they were paying 39.1%. In 1979 the top 10% of income earners paid 48.1% of all taxes, by 2006 they were paying 72.8%. pardon me, but my statistical analysis has NO margin of error. I see what the federal gov't can do about creating functional jobs, and don't have to look any further than the USPS and the IRS

can the panderers be overcome in Nov?"
Well said. And YES, they can. Oops... sounds too much like an Obama socialist label. Oh, what the hell. Forward! Oops again... (snicker)

You have to consider the costs involved in the "alternatives". I am all for alternative energy, BUT it will come when it is economically feasible. Not before. Throwing federal money away on it now is and has been shown to be a HUGE waste.
Let the free market work!!!!!!!! DAMNIT!

You forget the margin of error for statistical analysis. Most of the time you will see +/- 3%, so it may in fact already be over the 50% mark.
Of course, these stats include not only welfare recipients, but ALL people dependent on a government check whether earned (paycheck whether earned in reality or not. If you know any government employees then you know that MANY of them sit on their hands and produce nothing. Notice I said "employees" not "workers".) or simply doled out.
The fact is that it will be very hard to take back the country from the entitlement disabled non producing slag in this country. Sorry, couldn't think of a better term for it.

Global warming MAY be here, but whether or not we have much influence, if any, is still debatable. If you simply believe the government and MSM, then you will always come away with the view that WE are responsible.
However, do a little more research and you will find that MANY reputable scientists refute the idea that WE are causing this warming. In fact, since 1995 (I think date is correct) NASA has concluded that NO global warming has taken place. In fact there has been Global Cooling.
Sorry for not spoon feeding links, but you got here, so you can look them up yourself if you really want the truth about GW.

I agree with knot2swift. We need to find new innovative ways to utilize the abundance of natural gas that the US has and end such a dependence on foreign oil.

The biggest problem is the vast majority of the electorate is at least ignorant of economics and a large part of that majority is incapable or at least unwilling to inform themselves as to sound economic policies.
It is just "will this help me" without regard to whether it will hurt or help the country as a whole.
Nothing new, but sadly more important today as the shift in government dependents is around 50% or over that mark.
It is hard, if not impossible to support an economy in which more than half of the populace depends on the other less than half to support them. 4 more years of Obama will show you how much this is true and will destroy this country.

Seems like a common sense idea... to bad the administration tries to claim it makes no sense and were are all wrong. Too bad they are in the pocket of the oil companies and nor reflecting our concerns.
