The author is quoting almost verbatim the Pickens Plan. It has made sense to me for years.

equalize the playing field.
subsidize renewable energy sources (a good thing for the future) by taxing natural gas usage.

the author is correct assuming we don't have eco-nuts who hate any fossil fuels running the administration like they do now!

Let's use the resource while it's cheap. Capitalism will decide when to move on to other sources like wind or solar.

Natural gas is only relatively cheap in North America. Renewables are price competitive in the rest of the world, aside from burning dirty coal. Besides, NG prices will eventually go up in North America as more and more people use it for transportation and heating.

Use it for stationary power plants. The big jet turbines run very well on it. Leave the gasoline for the cars and trucks.

Wouldn't mind using LNG if they could modify my current vehicle cheaply & efficiency was similar or better than gasoline. However CNG is way too dangerous for a multitude of people to have in their vehicles.

Low natural gas prices couldn't come at a better time now that the economy is in shambles and there are so many political problems with the foreign sources of oil the US depends on. The government forcing business and individuals to spend more than necessary on alternative energy will only prolong this bad economy. The government needs to put together a realistic energy policy for this country that will help the economy grow while setting the stage for future use of alternative energy.

We are the Saudi Arabia of natural gas with no policy for its use. Way to go , Washington and Obama. T Boone Pickens is ahead of his time and Washington is acting like an ostrich.

Price of gas will go up like oil because greedy washington congressmen tax the over the road mileage of vehicles that use it. A no win situation.

Providing full service gas stations again will increase the jobs available out there and we can pay for that and still save with the cost of Natural Gas! Not at the mercy of the big oil for gas or overseas gouging by foreign oil providers!! It's time we got with the program and started providing for our people again with reasonable costs for transportation!!

Proceed with caution, for the price of gas may go up as oil has, continue to build alternative energy sources. If we had stopped back in Ronald Reagans days we would a lot farther along to day, and would most likely have a better system.

Interesting move from the greenie weenies. Oil and Gas are bad, as is coal, and now natural gas. All the cheapest forms of energy are bad for America and thier phoney climate change theories. Alternative fuels are not yet fully developed and the ones that are are extremely high priced. Whos promoting and selling the alternatives?? THE GREENIE WEENIES!!Anyone else seeing a convenient pattern. We need to tell them to shove their alternatives and start firing back up the coal plants on our own. Obviously they dont have the best interests of the nation or us as thier top priority.

No we DON'T NEED MORE CNG STATIONS! Have you any idea of the safety issues of allowing the public to pump this... Simply irresponsible, if we go there. We'll have to go back to FULL SERVICE, service stations... Best case scenario is to bring CNG and Propane, into the Fleet market in cities and bus services, where people can be trained and the cost savings can save the taxpayer as well. Saving the cities money is good for ALL! Forget the general population, we have enough of a problem with people pumping their own fuel as it is!
